Lake View Christian Fellowship was founded in June of 1997 by the Bermudian Church of the Brethren with the vision of serving as a community church for the unique Lake Meade Community.
Lake View Christian Fellowship is a different kind of "Church" for a new day and this unique setting. Our style of worship, organizing and serving may seem quite different from the traditional churches some of us grew up in, or have come out of. This is by intentional design! We desire to truly be a "church" in the New Testament understanding, committed to Jesus Christ as the true head of the church, committed to the centrality and infallibility of the Bible as our "rule of faith and practice", and very intentionally evangelistic -- loving people to Jesus Christ! We desire to be a church and to present the Christian faith for all who come, regardless of their background. We will strive to be a place where rich worship is a priority; where people are growing in God's word and God's ways; where there is much help for one another and for anyone in need; where there is hope and healing, where persons can feel comfortable, "at home", and be themselves; where there is a warmth and love for friends, both new and old; where the Presence of the Living God is close at heart!
From the beginnings of this endeavor we have experienced God's leading in a profound and exciting way! It is our vision that the excitement and vitality that marked the first days will be the marks of Lake View Christian Fellowship for many years to come!
We desire to actively support Christian ministries that serve our local area, as well as reach beyond ourselves to a troubled world. We will actively seek ways to be supportive of the people, organizations and structures of Lake Meade. While functioning as a community church for persons of many denomination backgrounds, and persons with no church backgrounds, our structural connection to the larger Body of Christ will be through the Church of the Brethren relating specifically to the Southern PA District Church of the Brethren. We will remain accountable to, and be supportive of the ministry and mission of the Church of the Brethren. We will seek to maintain a long term close relationship in ministry and mission with our "parent" church, the Bermudian Church of the Brethren. Our theological foundations may be described as Pietistic, Anabaptist, Brethren and Evangelical.
